Gen 2 Vanquish | The World's First 6.5 Litre V12 completed

Back in February, we shared the news that Hutson Engineering Services had been entrusted with a truly remarkable commission: the creation of the world's first Gen 2 Aston Martin Vanquish fitted with a 6.5L V12 engine.

The car, almost certainly the highest-mileage Vanquish on the road today, with over 324,000 km (202,000 miles) covered, developed an engine fault whilst in Germany, and its Swiss owner entrusted the engine to our workshop for a complete rebuild and bespoke 6.5-litre upgrade.

We promised to document every step on our YouTube channel, and the final instalment of the rebuild and upgrade has now landed:

In this episode, we detail the significant upgrades carried out on this engine, not least the capacity increase to 6.5 litres, a world first for a Generation 2 Vanquish.

Before any of that could begin, however, there was the matter of the catalytic converter ingestion. The video shows in detail the dust recovered from the engine, and what damage of that nature actually does, a sobering reminder of why thorough inspection and cleaning matter as much as the headline upgrades.
