Aston Martin DB7 GT V12 'Dreaded Tick'

This low-mileage, V12 DB7 GT engine has come to us for a comprehensive rebuild after developing the notorious “Dreaded Tick".

The engine was previously rebuilt with new pistons and associated parts.

We have observed and demonstrated that the cylinder liners have shifted, compromising the integrity of the cylinder bores.

The engine components are currently being processed. The cylinder heads are being machined and rebuilt with new valve stem oil seals, following a thorough inspection of the valve train components for wear.

The bottom-end processes will include precise component measurements. Any parts that fall outside tolerance will be replaced, and all bearings and chains will be renewed as standard procedure. The small end bushes will be replaced with the later "grooved" type (Upgrade option for bush material also available) and machined to suit the new piston gudgeon pins.  The crank will be re-ground to the next undersize, mains and big ends. To keep everything lubricated accordingly, a new O/E oil pump will be fitted.

To address the "Dreaded Tick," we will incorporate the advanced aluminium Nikasil liner system into the engine block, significantly enhancing its durability.
